Intimate Destination Wedding in Durango, Colorado
Haley and Dalla’s wedding was one that I was really looking forward to for two reasons. One: they’re such a fun gorgeous couple and their Adventure Engagement session was awesome so I knew their wedding would be a blast. Two: They were having an intimate destination wedding in Colorado with an outdoor ceremony. Two beautiful people in love and amazing mountain landscapes, that’s pretty much a wedding of dreams in my books!
Unexpected Last Minute Changes
Something really unexpected happened…Sunday evening, three days before my flight to Colorado Haley, the bride messaged me and let me know that their whole wedding was basically canceled due to wildfires! Their accommodation, ceremony space and reception venue all had to cancel because the fires were dangerously close and the whole area was filled with toxic levels of smoke.
Despite all of this Haley stayed calm and composed and told me that they were in the process of figuring out a plan B. This couple was determined to get married and wasn’t going to let mother nature to get in the way!
The evening before my flight Haley got in touch with me and let me know that they managed to get a new venue and ceremony site sorted. They were now getting married in Durango, Colorado at Lions Den and the reception was taking place at the Strater Hotel.
They basically re-organized a whole wedding in less than a week! It was honestly incredible and I couldn’t believe they managed to pull it off.
Luckily they were having their wedding on a weekday which really helped in these particular circumstances.
Once I arrived in Durango, it was love at first site. The town is gorgeous and quaint, surrounded by stunning mountain views. I met with Haley and her family and had to congratulate them on doing such an amazing job sorting everything out last minute. Haley mentioned that her mum was a tremendous help in getting everything sorted so last minute as was Emily, the coordinator at The Strater Hotel. Even their friends pitched at helping out where they could.
It was so heartwarming to see so many people come together to ensure that two people in love could have the wedding of their dreams despite the unexpected last minute changes. Strater Hotel was the perfect venue location, the hotel brings the word vintage to its true meaning, it is decorated simply beautifully.
If hadn’t known that it was planned in less than a week and someone had told me I honestly wouldn’t have believed them! The wedding day was honestly perfect in every way, full of love and laughter.
Haley and Dallas, I wish you many many beautiful years together full of love, laughter, and adventures!
